Sustainable yacht builder Sunreef Yachts has announced a new addition to its fleet – a stylish and lightweight solar electric explorer catamaran. Dubbed the Eco Explorer 40m, it is the company’s smallest electric yacht to date but debuts with a range of cutting-edge technologies, including Sunreef’s proprietary “solar skin.”
Established in Gdansk, Poland, in 2002, Sunreef Yachts has been operating its shipyard and offices from this location, alongside a newer footprint in the United Arab Emirates. Since its inception, Sunreef has pushed the boundaries of sustainable marine travel, having launched the world’s first 74-foot luxury ocean-going catamaran with a flybridge.
Today, hundreds of Sunreef Yachts are sailing the world’s waters, showcasing the company’s range of sustainable luxury catamarans, all-electric propulsion systems, and advanced solar panels. This current portfolio comprises eco-friendly sailboats and massive solar electric catamarans ranging from 60 to 100 meters in length.

Now, Sunreef has gone smaller with its latest offering – the 40m electric yacht, the Eco Explorer. This yacht not only inherits Sunreef’s signature elegant design and superior performance but also improves upon it with numerous innovations. One of the most notable features is its unique “solar skin,” a technology that seamlessly integrates solar panels into the hull, offering both aesthetics and functionality, providing a continuous source of clean energy for the yacht.
The launch of the Eco Explorer 40m further underscores Sunreef Yachts’ leadership in sustainable yacht-making. With its sleek design, lightweight construction, and cutting-edge technology, this yacht promises a more comfortable and environmentally friendly marine experience. We look forward to seeing more innovative products from Sunreef Yachts in the future, pushing the boundaries of ocean travel even further.
